A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME:
On August 18, 2011, I found myself at a crossroads.
I was 35 years old and was driving home with a severance check in my hand.
My corporate job had laid me off due to budget cuts on my third work anniversary.
Do you think I was sad or angry?
Far from it!
I felt nothing but utter and absolute relief.
Relief because I felt RELEASED.
Relief because I was HAPPY.
Relief because I knew, deep in my heart, this was not an ending.
IT WAS A BEGINNING.
And oh wow, was it ever!
If someone had told me then where I would be now I’d have laughed in disbelief. Seriously laughed.
Because up until that day, that moment, I thought that I would never be or do what I truly wanted — a life defined by my terms, my schedule, my energy, and my passions and purpose.
I reflected on my life as I drove home dreading the conversation with my husband that I’d just lost my job.
I could keep doing what I was doing and being absolutely miserable at it:
~ Working in a corporate environment, dragging myself to a job I hated, and living the corporate rat race
~ Attending church but feeling spiritually unfulfilled
~ Living the suburban mom life when I felt like anything but a suburban-type mom.
Or, I could take the chance I’d always wanted to: Chase my dreams AND LIVE THEM.
As a creative free spirit, being chained to a desk doing work that wasn’t meaningful or fulfilling was not my ideal situation.
But, having a family and bills to pay meant doing something I thought I was supposed to do and what society said I should do.
I never imagined I’d have the chance to do what I was meant to do: use the power of words and my gift of storytelling to help others.
I was basically born with a pen and paper in my hand and never feel complete without them. (Just ask my parents — I wrote on everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING. Up to and including their white van back before there were washable markers and crayons.)
Ever since I was old enough to even know what I wanted to be, I’ve always been a writer with a passion for words. (There’s actually a word for it – logophile!)
And helping people find creative solutions to their problems — whether business or personal — has always come naturally to me.
As an Intuitive Empath, I have an ability to see beyond the surface. I get right to the heart of a problem and gently guide you to positive and creative solutions in your business and personal situations.
Now, I enjoy a fulfilling, rewarding career as a holistic life coach, helping people reach their creative potential and life of purpose through a heart-centered approach.
And, as a content development consultant, I’ll work with you to clearly and concisely tell your story — why you do what you do, why you believe what you believe, and how that adds value for your potential customers.
I started my career in copywriting and content development the same day I was laid off.
I received an email from a friend ONE HOUR after I got home asking if I’d write for her, and the rest is history.
It was definitely a God thing, the proverbial “when one door closes another one opens” type of situation.
Since that fateful day in August 2011, I’ve had the immense pleasure of being and doing what I’ve wanted as:
During my work with GETAWAY Reno/Tahoe, I earned the prestigious American Advertising Award (also known as the ADDY Award) in 2016 as the copy editor for the Summer 2015 issue, Burning Man Fashions article (pgs 44-47).
My first published poem was printed in the March 2012 issue of Piney Woods Live magazine.
Most people assume I must have spent years in corporate positions already working in content development.
Or that I at least have a college degree — in journalism, creative writing, English, business … something.
I follow in the footsteps of many other entrepreneurs and never finished college.
I started, several times, but life just kept getting in the way. Or it wasn’t meant for me. Or whatever the reason was.
Either way, what I discovered, quite by accident, is you don’t always need a college degree.
You just need determination, intention and a go-get-’em attitude.
I’m a true example of someone who has found their “why” and created a career from that passion and purpose of helping others with the power of words.
So here I am — a student of the school of life. Always learning, growing, adapting and finding ways to serve you better as a content development consultant and holistic life coach.
When I’m not working on my business, I journal, practice yoga and meditation, swim, dabble in digital photography, post about my adventures raising my twin grandsons on Instagram @onetiredmimi, and spend time with my hubby and three other grandchildren.
My passion is writing, but I also have a love for helping others, living a balanced life, reading everything I can get my hands on about spirituality, parapsychology, ancient history, positive living, writing, marketing and more. (I’m never at a loss for something fun and interesting to do, as you can see!)
I’d love to connect with you so please make sure to sign up for my blog posts if you want to get inspired to find your purpose or grow your business with words that sell.
